It's a Knockout - Charity Challenge

12 July 2010

Premex employees attend a re-creation of the hit TV show it’s a knockout hit to raise valuable money for children’s charity – Children Today.

On Saturday 10th July two teams, 'Funky Monkeys' and 'Totally Frank', from Premex gathered at a sports field in Cheshire to make complete fools out of themselves all for charity.  'Funky Monkeys' lived up to the name dressing as monkeys, complete with tails and florescent tutus to give them a funky edge, whereas 'Totally Frank' named after boxing legend Frank Bruno, who hosted the show, put on their boxing shorts to recreate the magic. It's a knockout course

Children Today is a national charity, founded in 1994, that help disabled children and young people up to the age of 25 enjoy a better quality of life by providing them with the specialised equipment they need.  The provision of equipment and aids is vital in helping children and young people overcome their disabilities and enable them to lead full and active lives with their families and friends.

The charity re-creation had all the chaos as the original, with the teams having to run over a giant slippery inflatable to feed circus animals with arms and legcircuss flying everywhere, but thankfully no major injuries were sustained.  Teamwork was an essential requirement, with other games including completing an obstacle course, pushing a person in a wheelbarrow whilst being tied to a plank and collecting water in wellington boots.

The whole company has got behind the two teams, by providing a coach for participants and spectators to travel to the arena, customised t-shirts and generous sponsorship for the two teams.  The event was also watched by Premex Group's Managing Director, Bill Clynes, who promises to take part in the event next year after getting a good insight to what is involved.

The afternoon finished with a ceremony for the winning team, unfortunately Premex's team did not appear on the podium but prizes certainly go for effort. Sponsorship is still being collected and Premex hope to make a donation to Liz Oakes, Fundraiser at Children Today, later in the month.
